Blimey, that's a long day ! I can see what he means, if you'd need to commute another 2 hours each way on top of that (is that right ?).

Yes, he's saying that your CV looks good but he's probably worried that you'd start the course and then drop out because you found the commuting was too much - especially if you've told him you've got a young family.

You'd need to convince him that it wouldn't be a problem - are you sure you could handle all that ?

Yep - looks like their sole reason for the decline is that you've got a 2 hour commute each way?

In other words, if you can convince them that this isn't a problem for you then you should be set for entry onto the course. Maybe tell them you are looking for a residence in the area, or something like that? He does have a point though (assuming he's got his commute times right) that you'd be leaving about 6am and getting home about 11pm every day - it is a heck of a lot of strain that.

yh, however it doesnt say anywhere on the entry requirements about students living away or close by?

Im going to say I use to work in Preston, and travelled 2 hours per day, 5 days a week just for work.

Oh well, will try

It does look as though the distance is a factor, but isn't the sentence above it about nuclear experience also part of the argument?

As the others have said that sounds like a pretty crazy day - if you're leaving at 6am and getting home at 11pm that's very hardcore indeed.......

yh, ive replied asking whether this is part time or full time, as officially, full time means more then 12 hours per week, in this case it is?

I did my Modelmaking degree in Bournemouth and lived in Southampton and it was an hour drive each way! I got to uni for 8:00 am and then left every night at 9:00pm just to do the same thing evrey day monday-friday for 2 years.

I loved the course to bits and really enjoyed it but i had no other life outside of Uni for the 2 years. I worked weekends during the day to help fund the course a little and then i did more coursework in the evenings. But i wouldn't do anything differently! I had the time of my life and put my first degree to shame in comparison.

If you want it then go for it, but be aware that these things need 110% dedication.
