I killed a tyre
I killed a tyre
I was driving home on tuesday night and my rear tyre went flat, i had to limp it to a garage to pump it up again. When i got home i took the wheel off and look what i found
Pretty dead i think
I tried fitting the is200 rims, but found out that A: my spacers are the wrong ones, and B: 215 45 17 tyres dont fit on the front of an MR2. Yay
So i have been driving it the past 2 days looking like this
Ouch. Luckily no other damaged was caused i suppose. Looks like it needs a new tyre, somehow the IS200 Rim doesnt look inplace :Fish:
That looks bad, what happened to that? Pothole?
Where the tyre went flat, the beaded edge of the rim has cut into the sidewall. I was lucky it didnt blow out when i inflated it or the remaining 12 mile drive home.
I wont be putting the 18 inch wheels back on the car. I am going with the is200 rims. I will be refurbing them before JAE, i will post that up when i get round to doing them. Ill just have to play musical wheels again
Oh right, yep definitely pretty lucky there then. Probably testament to what a good design they were in the first place but those IS200 wheels look really good on the MR2! If you can get hold of some you should be able to pop off the Lexus logo on the centre caps and replace them with Toyota ones.
Yeah i cant be keeping the lexus logo on there. I was thinking of sanding them flat and either putting a toyota or TRD logo on. The lexus badge is moulded into the centre cap, so the only way to get rid of it is to sand it flat.
I am planning on refurbing the wheels so that the centre of the spokes is the same colour as the car (metallic green), with the rest silver
