HI

I seem to be having problems again with high oil pressure!! Confusedad: when started from cold in the mornings or after work i start the car and my oil pressure gauge starts off by sitting at oround 50 to 60psi, i normally leave the engine on tick over for a minute or 2 before heading off and the oil pressure starts to drop down to 40-50psi as i start my journey. but then 5 minutes or so later down the road the oil pressure starts to go off the gauge hitting the 100psi mark!! and the engine starts to feel very sluggish as if something is blocking the power. so i back off the peddle and it then drops back to about 70-80psi but if i have to reaccelerate from junctions the psi goes right back up again till i back off and it drops again to the 70psi. but then after about another 5 minutes of very gentle driving the oil pressure returns to normal sitting at 30 to 40 psi during normal driving and going up to 60ish on acceleration and about 20-30psi sat in traffic. can someone please help i have asked lexus reading twice about this and they say there is nothing wrong, there are no warning lights indicating any problems. i dont want this to get expensive or blowing up on me!!!
what do i do??? can someone please help me.

i have ac autotechnics gauges if that helps

i have also tryed resetting ecu by pulling fuses and disco'ing the battery.

thanks
dean

What oil do you use on your car Dino?

This normal means two things either a problem with your oil pump or a problem in the engine

First thing If the oil level is where it should be you need to check the oil pressure with a manually operated pressure gauge these can be found at a local Garage.

it was serviced only last month in april at lexus reading so what ever oil they are using mate. the oil level seems to be sitting just above the divet so it looks like they over filled it maybe? Bar stewards need to get a job in a pub not a garage!!:cursing: ok so looks like im going to have an oil change at the weekend! cant believe i hadnt noticed that it was sitting higher than it should be cos im sure it wasnt at that level last time i checked it cos we were looking at it at japshow. how many litres am i going to need as ive not done an oil change by meself.

Dino pick a oil and stay with that brand each time you change it.
Oil filter are really cheap so it worth doing this as well, but it not necessary.

Your oil pressure should go up and down with revs mate as its run off the engine, but does sound a little odd

It does sound strange. I don't think just changing the oil is going to fix that, I doubt that being very slightly overfilled (it's not massively over-filled is it ?) is the cause.

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !
