Information will be put up for people attending this meet so we can discuss what people want to do.

Other than train times and the Sunday drive day everything is up to each person to what they want to do.

Its still not to late to join us if any one else is interested.

OK here some information about the Swiss Trip on the 13th – 16th of August
Here is a rough idea of what the agenda could be: you can also make your own plans while you are there
Leaving the UK around 2.30am morning on the 13th August travelling to Switzerland.
This will take around 12 - 14 hours driving at responsible speeds with breaks.

Friday evening booking into a hotel in Zug Small area near Zurich.
Saturday morning for those that are interested a trip by train (so people can drink) to Lake Lucerne The lake has a couple of mountains called the Mount Rigi and Mount Pilatus that can be clearly seen.
We will then get on a boat something like the Unterwalden a 1902-vintage paddlewheel steamer Unterwalden will then take us around the Lake.
This trip last around three hours and can include lunch and drinks.
We can either dine in Lucerne or if people have not drank too much they may want to drive into Zurich
Sunday morning straight after breakfast
We meet up with Rob & Supergoose with a full tank of fuel they will then take us up to the passes, we will be driving passes called Sustenpass then the Grimsepass and finally the Furka pass these are very impressive drives these are very windy rounds to drive and we can ask the driver if they are interested in a fast or casual drive, we can break into groups if need be.
You go around many tight bends and you can hear the raw of your engines in some of the tunnels that you pass through.
There are some truly magnificent opportunity for photo’s or video to be taken.
If you have a photo that you want to take then you must stop as you do not repass this area on the way back.
There will be stopping area’s on the way some of these are for drink and food the other to admire the view.
This trip will around 5-6 hours depending on traffic and the speed we travel at.
The cars we will have on the day travelling will be A Honda S2000 The fatboy GS430 SC430 A Audi R8 A number of IS200 Including a couple if not three supercharger and a turbo.
Things you will need:
Passports driving licence, some sort of car breakdown cover is advised.
Please check that your covered on your insurance while abroad.
Currency tolls are French are the euro and currency while in Switzerland is the Swiss Franc’s
Please read up on the speed limits while travelling from the UK as most fine will be on the spot if you break those limits.
Please be aware that prices can be high than we find in the UK.
If you have any ideas or Suggestion then we would like to hear them.

There are still place available should you wish to join us

some good info, if anyone is having difficulty finding lucerne on a paper map look for Luzern as lucerne is the french pronunciation, luzern is the german spelling. I would suggest a trip to pilatus you can do a 3 way trip consisting of a boat trip on the lake, up the mountain on the worlds steepest cog railway at about 44 degreees and then after a walk around the mountain top a trip back to the town on the cable car.

when you enter switzerland on the german side (before the boder there is a short section of unrestricted autobahn BTW) watch out for all the trucks parked on the first 2 lanes. after passing the trucks u will see 2 lanes, with vignette and without vignette.

I am also in basel if u fancy a coffee break :w00t: watch your speed for the first few tunnels until you pass the brewery on the LH side going towards zurich, the first tunnel you will get has 2 80KMH cameras, 1 inside and 1 just outside on the gantry - its the size of an A4 sheet and dark green!

look here for speeding fines for this year... Confusedcared: http://www.englishforum.ch/732504-post137.html

there are only a few fixed cameras from basel to zug but there are quite a few unmarked cars on the highway, ranging from a crappy brown old subaru to a big new audii estate, a lot of cameras are digital and the main border at germany has ANPR cameras so if you get flashed you might get pulled on departure.

stick with the general flow of traffic and you will be ok. 130kmh is perfectly normal on the highway.

the swiss standard of driving is bad.. sit in middle lane all the time in 3 lane sections, tailgate and cant use roundabouts at all.

lots of underground parking is available all over and they are quite safe, but of course dont leave things on display - although many swiss leave the gps on full show. If parking on the street there are 2 forms of parking bays - white box is free parking at any time, blue box is free parking with a time clock for about 2 hrs and overnight. if the box has a meter then check the times when it is applicable.

make sure to keep your documents for the car with you, eg V5, insurance cert, green card, driving licence, MOT.

oh, something thats VERY important, road prioroty is always from the RIGHT, unless otherwise marked e.g. at a T junction and you are on the main road give way to the car on the RH side unless THEY have give way markings on the road junction. this can save some accidents!
if i think of anything else ill come back.

does anyone have questions???

Rob i guessing everyone will be tired as they would of been travelling from 2 oclock in the morning UK time and some will not of gone to bed the night before either so there will be some people looking for there beds.
It will certainly be nice to see you before or on the day of the drive though.
