Hey everyone, sad to say but got bored of the Lexus...I am getting an RX-8 this weekend (if I manage to find a decent one), I want the 231PS version, budget is in place, but seeing as they are rotary engines I have no idea what to watch out for? Whats the normal mileage? What should I definetely be checking etc? As much help as possible please.
Many thanks in advance!!!

Speak To Bobby who has one of these i would recommend the Prodrive version.
The RX-8 Drink fuel and have a issue of drinking lots of Oil, It is recommended that you keep a watch weekly on the oil levels.
The first version were 1.3 litre wankle engines producing 210 bhp
The version Bobby has is the prodrive pz with only 800 being made, i have seen a few of these on the net for sale over the past few weeks, but are only avalible in Galaxy Grey ) and Brilliant Black.

Ran a 231ps for a few months and can tell you this;

Oil consumption is no worse than most other cars I've owned, worst case I was popping an extra litre in every 3k.

Buy one earlier than a 2006 or the road tax is a LOT higher.

Make sure it has full service history with all mazda recalls being completed, this is very important as there was quite a few.

Handling is fantastic, comparable to a MX5, it feels that nimble in the corners

Interior is lush, very nice place to be.

Don't worry about getting a car with the sat-nav as it's a **** system anyway!

Fuel, well I found the best I ever got was 27mpg but driving it around town and quick blasts you are looking at 17 - 20mpg

Cold starts used to be an issue, you'll read lots about folk flooding the car, common issue but if the recalls have been done then this should be fixed.

Can't think of anything else right now but ask away Smile

yea thats right, happens a lot when people have 2 cars and 1 drive way, shuffling cars around etc.

This issue was solved in a recall though.

Funny thing is it even stated in the owners manual that this was an issue but you could easily avoid it by holding the revs at a certain point for a few secs and problem avoided.

Then again, how reads the manual Wink
