Ford Focus ST3
Ford Focus ST3
Hi guys,
A rather proud owner of this ST3 contacted me and asked what could be done with the swirl marks he had noticed in sunlight, the graphics were also quite faded, swirled and covered in water marks. Which together was generally letting the vehicle down.
So we agreed on a stage 1 paint correction and engine bay treatment. The idea of this service is not full paint correction but to vastly improve the appearance of light scratches and swirl marks as well as getting a fresh, vibrant finish to the paintwork.
The journey to the owner began and this was the car on arrival...
First off the wheels were jet washed off, sprayed with bilberry and aggitated with a selection of brushes
The engine bay was rinsed down, sprayed with APC and everywhere was degreased. This was to be dressed later on
The vehicle was then snowfoamed
It was then washed using the 2 bucket method and shampoo plus solution. Fine brushes were used to clean the harder to reach areas
After this the ST was clayed. The owner had briefly done some claying before on another vehicle but was not comfortable doing so and therefore stopped. This seemed a perfect time to give a quick lesson in claying and the owner happily clayed half the bonnet. Although the vehicle was very clean from contamination due to its very low mileage, this will hopefully give him the confidence to tackle this task in the future should he need to
It was then washed again and jetwashed off. We were now left with this
At this point the sun was coming down so we moved into the garage to continue the session
The vehicle was machine polished with a makita rotary, 3m polishing pads and menzerna 106fa. Starting on the drivers door. The paint was inspected under led and halogen lighting
Some left side bonnet shots before polishing
And the right hand side after correction
Working down the vehicle
Moving round to the boot, switching to a 3m polishing spot pad. This was the difference in the stripes after polishing
Due to the small garage size, the vehicle was turned round and i continued on the rear wing
The arch had not yet been done in this pic
The stripes on the bonnet were treated with the same process
And continuing down the side of the vehicle
All shuts were dusted down and all rubbers and plastics in the engine bay were treated with aerospace 303
Any external plastics and trim were treated with bumper care
The wheels were sealed with poorboys wheel sealant and tyres dressed with endurance tyre gel.
The headlights and windows were polished by hand.
The interior was hoovered and dash wiped down with natural look.
The exhausts were polished with nxt.
After machine polishing, the paintwork was treated with lime prime lite pre wax cleanser and 1 application of victoria concourse wax.
The Invisible Touch Detailing service book was filled out to become part of the owners records.
These were the final pictures kindly provided by the owner the following day
