Here's all the P&P details:
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/maximumPP_FAQ.html
This came in on the 15th of June.
I have always started my items at 99p with no reserve ( under 99p is free to list now) and you only used to pay fees on the item not the P+P.
So to cover the P+P in the sale price of the item you have to at least add the P+P price into the starting price just to cover it.
So my 99p item now starts at £2.49 ( if the actual P+P is £1.50 say) and now I am charged an insertion fee,at the end if it sells I pay more final value fees.
Here is the reply from ebay ( as usual a pile of sh*t with my comments in brackets)
Hello Steve,
Thanks for getting in touch about being required to offer free postage
and packaging cost when listing memory stick items. I understand how
this matter concerns you.
Steve, I would like to share that with our goal of making eBay a more
dynamic market,(Read more profitable for ebay!) starting 15th of June, all the items listed in
categories such as Video Games, Mobile & Home Phones, Consumer
Electronics, Computing, Photography, and Clothes, Shoes & Accessories
will now be required to offer free P&P for their first domestic postage
option. This is the reason why you are getting an error message when you
list your item with postage costs.
We have made this change because high postage costs are known to be a
reason for buyers to spend less online (read "and therefore make less money for ebay"), and free delivery is
increasingly common on online shopping sites ( Is it really?). Offering free postage and
packaging in categories where there's a lot of competition ( competition is a bad word at ebay they like Monopoly!) with other
sites helps ensure that buyers continue to shop on eBay. This, in turn,
means that sellers enjoy stronger sales (not with me there won't be any sales!). It should also help to reduce
the number of issues that arise as a result of unclear delivery charges.( I have never had any)
We realise that you need to absorb the extra cost, and for that reason
we plan to offer Final Value Fee promotions and other incentives from
time to time(Well let me know when you pay for my P+P charges). I also assure you that you can do one of the following:
- When selling a heavy and bulky item, you can be exempted from the
postage limit by choosing the option 'Courier: heavy and bulky items'
instead of 'Flat cost for all buyers' in the Sell Your Item form. Once
you have selected this, the options to specify the postal carrier and
postage costs will be disabled. With this, you will have to specify on
your item description the cost and the postal carrier you will use for
your items. ( Maybe I should stick the memory card in with a couple of house bricks!)
For your buyer's better understanding, I suggest creating a table where
they can see all the charges you'll be asking for postage. This will add
clarity on the total price of the item, which most buyers require from
sellers with regard to postage and packaging fees. ( Please do this for me)
Fry-Up more sales mean nothing to a seller if they aren't seeing any of the profit due to ebay keepng it

steve2009 Very true.
I am thinking, as you can charge P+P for heavy or bulky items of selling the memory cards attached to a house brick ( the brick is a free gift if you buy the memory cards).

Just noticed that eBay are forcing free P&P on even more "media" categories from 19th October, details here. Not quote sure how they think offering 20% off Final Value Fee for a month is going to help sellers on an ongoing basis :confused1:
