Is It Just Me????
Is It Just Me????
Okay so my car is in the body shop after some tw@t rear ended me a month ago :crying: I was stationary at pedestrian lights about 6 cars back, not moved for about 20 seconds, when BANG:ohmy: Did the rear bumper, rear 1/4 panel was bowed out a slight bit, boot misaligned, inside the boot area where the lock is was all pushed in........
Anyway, so I went to pick it up today and.....shi* what a **** finish!!!!:Sulk:
Took these couple of pics on my mobile so they ain't great, but to see how bad the finish is you will need to look at the reflections, especially the white facia reflection in the paint. Tell me am I expecting too much???
The bumper/boot look okay, but the rear 1/4 area is aweful I think. You would not believe the bollox I was being spun, but I wasn't having it, so refused to take it. Matey boy said they will put it right, I said I am in no hurry so take your time and get it right.
You know I have NEVER had a car come back out of a body shop that was any good.............maybe it's me, maybe I expect too much, I dunno:confused1:

no no , its defo not you my freind, thats **** paint job there for sure and the fact there took it back and said therell do it again, just goes to show there even know thats its rubbish.
That does look like a very poor bit of paintwork, especially compared to, say, the door. Hope they get it sorted out soon for you.
when you get it back, put up pictures then, and it clear then that its poor
Lexus paint is generally a little orange peely, but that looks really bad. Is that a Lexus bodyshop that did that?
I had a similar repair done a while back (after being rear ended) and they did a better job than that (but the bodyshop at Woodford is pretty good)

No not a Lexus body shop, although I thought they just subbed it out anyway? This was the body shop my insurance company wanted me to use, silly me thought it would be okay:thumbdown:
I was told, and you'll love this,......"That is how cars come out of the factory now days"!.... I sh*t you not, I said to the bloke I can assure you when my Lex left the factory it did not have a finish like that!.......the bloke actually said that! Then it was the grade of laquer we have to use in Europe is a different grade to the rest of the world because of H&S (Health & Safety)hock:......there were several more excuses which I laughed at and totally disagreed, but then the final cracker.
I was told that he shouldn't really say this but there are different grades of finishing????? Yup, he actually said that too! I said well I want the top end finish or you'll have it back again, don't care what it costs because the other blokes insurance will be paying for it!
Anyone refused a car several times? What was the outcome?

Blimey what a load of garbage he tried to feed you !
Bit late now, I know, but your insurance company doesn't have a choice over the body shop you use, it's up to you as to who you use. They just have to be happy with the quote. So you can pick whatever body shop you like and get a quote, and send it off to be approved. You don't even have to get multiple quotes for them to compare.
Some Lexus dealers do indeed just contract out their body shop work to someone else, depends what facilities they have. The one at Bracknell (jointly with Toyota) does have their own body shop though, and that's who did my car (and I was very pleased with the result).
