Is It Just Me????
RX300.
I wouldnt class that as much as a curtesy car. Since its the X Reg, wont it be the really old, horrible ones?
Oh I just remembered another excuse.......be interesting to know if this is true, so if we have any sprayers on board I'd appreciate their input.
I was told that different shades of a metallic colour can happen if the paint is sprayed at different pressures? Get this.......he was saying the metallic flakes "sit" differently? Personally I think it's a load of bo**ox:Chair:

My car is Platinum Ice, which is notoriously hard to colour match properly. Yet the Lexus body shop did a brilliant job on my repair, and another body shop painted my TRD front and rear lips very nicely.
Cous3 No not a Lexus body shop, although I thought they just subbed it out anyway? This was the body shop my insurance company wanted me to use, silly me thought it would be okay:thumbdown:
Anyone refused a car several times? What was the outcome?

Got a call to go collect my car a day and a half after leaving it there.......so I'm hoping they have sorted it!....but I can't get over there until Weds.
Checked out "Orange Peel" on the net and seems the way it is dealt with is to rub it all down, or "flattern" it, again and re spray the laquer...........we will see.

Looking at the pic's matey, they havn't rubbed down after the final laquer coat to give it a nice even shine? or they have used too low a pressure so the laquer has gone on too thick, or even rushed the last coats?
I know when i sprayed the skirts and other bits on mine, if i didnt give the laquer enough time between coats it would go orange peeled, as it would react to the cellulose that hadn't had time to dry out and evaporate?
Another way of removing the orange peel effect is to use Farelca G3 rubbing paste on a polisher,(which a lot of body shops use?) this will remove most of the orange peel if its light and bring it up to a nice even shine but you do have to be carefull with it being new paint!
I've got to spray the front and rear bumpers on the skyline when i get chance and just had my spray guns serviced ready for doing it but on the plus side the paint on mine is a basic nissan colour and the only one used for my car so it should be pretty easy to match up
Hope its sorted mate up to standard when you pick it up again :thumbup1:
Which paint coat usually causes the orange peel, the paint or the lacquer? Or could it be either depending on how well it's been sprayed?
Remember when Mr Singh polished his Altezza all over and completely removed all the orange peel, looked fantastic but his was black which doesn't have the clear coat I think.
Can be a lot of things mate, i found when i was spraying that a lot of it is not letting things dry out and cure properly? Low pressure and not using clean guns doesn't help!
Mr Singh sanded his whole car down with 3000 grit sandpaper then polished it back up, cared: he did do an amazing job of it, was just like glass when he'd finished
