When I had the car serviced on Friday they told me one of my fogs isn't working and that it's not the bulb, it needs a whole new unit.

Is that normal? Can count on one hand the number of times I've used my foglights as I never use them!

Don't know why it would need a new unit for not working??? there's nothing apart from the bulb in there that could break :confused:

think your dealer is having a laugh to be honest :Chair:

It's one of the front ones, sorry should have mentioned that Blush

It's not a big deal as it shouldn't cost a lot to get a new lamp off ebay or similar, just wondered how it failed and what part has actually failed (was in a bit of a rush when I collected the car so didn't get into any detail)

Maybe I'll give them a ring for an explanation then, they weren't pushing to replace it or anything so didn't seem like they were just trying to get out extra cash, just making me aware of it.

Not sure mate, the only thing that usually happens is that the bulb holder ring corrodes, which makes the bulb go very loose? apart from the bulb and wiring connector that's pretty much all the bits that can go wrong on the front fogs?

Hmm I'll take it apart and have a look then, does it come off from the front or do I need to get into the wheel arch?

Can take them off from the front mate, but usually easier from behind as it needs a little push to get it out, plus you'll need to remove the wiring plug :thumbup1:
