parthiban Ok so these are still not active right? The cameras were going up fast, then govt changed, stopped camera funding and it seems to have stopped still.
In any case the limit is still 40, got on set cruise at 50, and I was still the slowest car on the road! :blink:
I went up there last on saturady before last and signs were still there saying the cameras are being tested, so doubt it mate.....

It's only westbound that's a concern as all (or at least most) of the cameras are there, eastbound there's only one set.
Cool, I don't really drive any faster than anyone else anyway, just want to make sure I can follow the traffic - it really is one of the few roads were pretty much everyone completely disregards the speed limit, probably because it's such a ridiculous one to begin with!

i know on the A45 going past rugby there are speed cameras set at 50mph before you reach coventry, but the rest of it is 70mph dual carriageway?
doesnt make sense to me,
plus they are situated before things like roundabouts where youa re slowing down anyway?

Unfortunately this is what it's like in London, even if the road has 3 lanes and is as big as a motorway, if it has houses on it and side turnings that enter normally (and not via a slip road) the speed limit will be 40mph........

perhaps a static camera before these junctions would be a wise move, but free for all on the rest?
I think the main reason is that bankers travel into the docklands in the early hours of the morning when the road is clear so probably like to stretch the legs of their Porsches...........this way they can take some money off them.......

True although they'd probably pull them over too :tongue_smilie:
I think a more realistic speed limit of 60 would mean traffic would move a lot smoother and make less people just speed so much, 40 is just way too low so it gets completely disregarded on such a wide and relatively straight road.
