You are encroaching on privacy laws that HM Govt would have to take court action to access.
That aside no one should be able to view pm's between members regardless whatever cyber post they hold within a forum.Administrator or not.

Sorry mate but I think you've got that idea wrong... The site admin owns the site and is responsible for all its content. The forum has rules on things like selling items without a paid membership, or against other stuff that could be done via pm. Admin has the right to check the rules are being followed etc.
I'm quite certain admin aren't reading PMs as a matter of course - imagine how boring that would be! It's the kind of thing used on an ad-hoc basis purely to ensure the rules are followed, and is no different to the IT department at your office having the access to read your email. Just cos they can doesn't mean they will...
Site admin/owner is Rabster, and he would be the only person who could read PMs.
What brought the question on, if I can ask? I'm neither a mod nor admin, I should point out...

You are correct that the government would need a legal order to get access to it, but that's because they aren't the site owner. They have no automatic right to read data not owned by themselves (though they most likely do it anyway :biggrin: )

Fair point on my views I suppose, but it's not an opinion that the site admin has the right/responsibility to check, it's a straight fact. All site content (on any site, not just forums) is subject to the owner permitting it.
