Does anyone have any of these energy monitors? Our electricity bills appear to be spiralling out of control so thinking of getting one, does anyone have any recommendations?

My parents had one and there very good was looking at getting one as u can really see what everything uses,

But your best bet and I know it sounds like rule 101 is to make sure things are turned off,
If you don't need the light on then why have it on, turn things off not to standby. Before bed I turn everthing off down stairs including switches in the kitchen like oven, washing machine, microwave.

I recently got one for the same reason. Quite useful to see just how much stuff is costing you when you turn it on!

I've got an owl one it's quite good and simple.

yh i had one and may still have it, i stopped using it, got it free from my energy supplier but works on all.

but learnt alot, my light in my ceiling room took up too much elec.

Sky box when in standby consumed the same power as on !

will your supplier not give one for free?

if its just to try one, then local libary can let you borrow one for couple weeks.

Thanks all, yep you're right Pat about just switching stuff off, but I'm lazy so I think seeing how much power is being consumed might make me actually turn stuff off hopefully!

Cool, the Owl one is the one I'm looking at as it's reasonably priced and seems to have good reviews, think I'll just go for that one then.

I don't think the suppliers are doing it any more, and even so I think in the past you had to sign up to a particular eco tariff to get one which weren't the cheapest rates. It's only £35-40 so not bothered about buying one, just wanted to know which was the best one to go for.
