Ok, so i recently got myself a cracking bargain off ebay.

[Image: 577283_10150667022326712_575506711_93836...5510_n.jpg]

So my question is this, do i fit the above stereo and have my iphone/ipod touch sat in the tray below the stereo or do i fit this i made, which will have a cable ran behind the stereo and out the tray to try and hide it, this option (pic below) will also charge said iphone/touch!

[Image: 230229_10150181686861712_575506711_71391...1401_n.jpg]

At the moment i have this in the top of my dash.

[Image: 385394_10150454448061712_575506711_87654...2037_n.jpg]

Which i looked for ages to find one.

I will also be connecting a parrot hands free kits to this stereo.

Or any other ideas you may have?

I have run a cable behind the stereo and up to the open tray per your first pic and into a docking station. As I use an iPhone sat nav app, it's the perfect option for me as when I leave the car I take my phone (and hence my sat nav) with me. nb I also followed a quick tip online to remove the resistor in the doc which mutes the phone when docked so I get full audio from the sat nav and also the speakerphone works fine. So I have saved myself a sat and phone install kit for the sake of about £5 worth of doc and charger :-)

Sure http://27.am/posts/your-iphone-its-dock-...te-feature
my dock was slightly different in internal design but the poster was right in saying there is only 1 resistor on the board. Mine was minute, but a couple of mins with a soldering iron and bobs ya uncle. No issues with my phone to date, but usual rules apply, "at your own risk"

So when you had your dock in the car and it was running tomtom (or similar) there was no sound coming through the car speakers for the tomtom, but music was ok?

I used a grom kit in the car with tomtom running and that worked spot on, it even paused the song while it gave directions.

mine is attached into my jvc headunit. Not via grom. I wanted to be able to use the inboard speaker of the iPhone which you couldn't when docked.

Just to let you know this is the cable i would be running from dock to stereo, the dock will be connected via the iphone/touch connection not the jack out.

Cheers, i did make this to work with my grom kit but the dock is not a pass through dock, so the grom kit just does not work with it!!

I'v got a set of pic's somewhere of the build if you want to make your own?
