IS200 radio wiring issue
IS200 radio wiring issue
Hi all, just finished putting my audio back to normal
I was fitting the sat nav unit and a nokia bluetooth (inc autoleads v3 telemute) when i notice the battery had drained a bit after 2hrs of finishing that install. Basically the car started but had a little struggle. I also noticed that the sat nav unit continued to operate even though the key was out. It would still open/shut/tilt.
Right, bear with me hear on wiring. On a spare iso lead, i connected the sat nav unit to the ground(black pin8) and i then connected the live and +12 to the yellow wire(acc pin 4) with the hope that when the engine and battery is off so is the unit. So i'm not sure if this is the cause of the leak.
Part 2 - Nokia. This seemed to be connected correctly after switching wires around. However the button still seemed to light up blue when pressed with the key out again. I can't remember if this is normal or not for a nokia kit.
My other plan would be to just use the cig lighter circuit to power the sat nav unit as i know that gets killed when the key is removed.
Any advice is welcomed.
It confuses me what you've said mate. You've connected 2 12v wires together to the yellow wire?
You want:
A permanent 12v to the yellow wire
A switched 12v to the red wire.
Yeah i did that because i thought the yellow wire would drop the voltage after the key is removed. Instead as it turns out it kept getting power as the yellow wire is a permanent 12v. Had i done it with the red wire my desired effect would have worked. Anyway i've decided to power it from the cig lighter which has worked a treat. Basically i wasn't bothered about it remembering its last position and i can't mess up a basic feed such the cig lighter.
