Hi All, I knoticed a few of you are interested in "carpc's" aka Carputers, and i too have dabbled and succeeded in installing these into a few cars, now to be honest i have skimmed through the "T's & C's" but generally in most forums advertising for other websites has generally become a no-no, however for the sake of sharing information i would like to invite the powers that be to confirm whether or not i am alowed to openly share links to information on other sites, otherwise for the benefit of my clean record please PM me if you wish to know the links i have to information regarding CarPC's, I will be happy to help and share any info regarding these gadgets, if i can.

As long as the websites aren't owned by you and/or you don't profit in any way from providing the links there's no issue mate.

I have found a good car pc will cost more than the average double din DVD head unit but by the time you add in all the features a car pc can have then it looks to be more affordable

for example My 350z pc consisted off
Screen
Psu
Computer

However I had allowed in the budget for the following month
Reverse camera
Reverse camera trigger (pc based)
Sat nav
Mobile Internet

Then future expansion of
Video output
voice and steering control
Relay board to turn features on and off around the car
FrOnt camera
Accident camera (records all the time for each journey)

The added benefit is you can put as much or as little music/videos as you want on the system space permitting of course

Down side is boot up but this can be modified to boot quicker

Yip I agree 100% Rabster, the CarPC's biggest selling points are the expandability and flexibility, it the long term savings not the short term layout that makes a Car PC worth while and i have noticed that a car pc can be had for money that i have noticed decreasing a lot lately
I mean using the handy "systembuilder" on CarTFT you can if careful and not picky have a complete system for less then a Hi end 2DIN head unit, excluding shipping costs of course but still...

Only mention of it has been that its not really a viable choice as start up times are too slow for the Car and there are a few better suited systems out there suh as http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site...e=IMX53QSB
