Wanted I.C.E
Wanted I.C.E
hi all im after a few things for my car,
looking for an Amp to run my 6x9s, also want to rplace my standard tweeters in the front as they dont cope at all.
i also have fitted pioneer speakers in the front doors but these dont do well under loud music is there any way to stop this they run onto the standard wireing if that helps
so just to recap after an AMP and Tweeters
any help would be great
the tweeters in the front are actually pretty good Pat - be careful what you replace them with.
You mean you want components?
Be careful, you can just add tweeters to normal door speakers setup, the components (tweeter, mid/sub speaker, and crossover box) are all matched to perform the best.
Errrr OK ,
Right so what am I looking at, I want an amp to run my 6x9s in the back as they can't handle to much bass on standard cables, but need something to help the front speakers out
Well if it was me I'd do what I've done,
Got I'd of the shelf speakers and built the pillar pods, in there are normal full range door speakers,
The holes left by the absent 6x9s allow the bass from the sub into the cabin,
And component speakers and tweeters in the door.
I tend to agree with Sparkystav on this one, i'm not a big fan of 6x9's, they are absolutley terrible for recreating clean sound, its one of the few times where form follows function, they were produced to create the biggest possible noise at the lowest possible cost, in doing so the Oval shape that was created ended up ruining the clarity of the sound produced, but any way each to their own.
For the best way to install sound or I.C.E, try and stick with round speakers, have a decent set of components up front a small but decent quality coax in the rear doors or custom pods for "rear fill" (not really there to be listened to, just there to create depth, so volume is not the aim here), bass is decided on by chosing the type of music you listen to, if you are into your rock/metal then my suggestion is a good quality Sub in a sealed enclosure; 1x15" or 2x 12" for sedans 2x10's or 1x12 for a hatch - for average listening, for pavement pounding (hip hop, r&b, dance); the aim here is to move as much air as possible so any number of big SPL subs in a ported enclosure.
The most important thing in any high quality sound installation is making sure that your amps are fed the right amount of power in relation to your subs, too much power and you run the risk of blowing your subs, too little and not only will you damage your sub, you can damage your amps, be very careful of the power rating of your amps as well many manufacturers Lie about the power their products can produce, make sure you KNOW what your products can handle.
As suggested already by Sparkystav, the oem speaker recesses make excellent "ports", allowing bass from your subs to enter your car (any sedan for that matter), and if you reuse the oem speaker grills its a great way to keep everything looking OEM and reducing break-ins.
Although not necessary but could be usefull, is a passive equaliser or pre-amp, to make sure the right signals are being sent to the right channels, bass to subs, trebels to tweaters etc etc.
If you hae any more questions i'll be happy to help, just let me know
Witchanic suggests if you want ICE, you go to North Pole ... Probably not wise in IS200 though
i had some ice in my car once, it melted :LOCMOD:
