Just throwing ideas around at the moment...

I thought that if I'm going to go through the expense of buying a new car, it might be nice to get something a bit quicker than the IS250.

Enter the Evo X...(it's either that or an Audi A5 2.0T FSI at the moment)

So I wondered if anyone on here owns one or know enough about them to provide advice on which model is the best, things to check when buying etc. ?

I'd probably be looking at the FQ-300 as the power it provides it more than enough without hurting the insurance too much, and bearing in mind that whatever car I buy will also be my daily driver.

Evo X is not for a daily car, unless if you want to spent a fortune in petrol, especially if you travel long distances. Most Evo X owners tend to remap the ecu because from factory it is programmed to be too rich and fuel consumption is very high. After remap the fuel consumption drops a bit and you also have more hp! It is a great car and I love it. I was going to buy one recently but I regret it because I have a spent a fortune on my IS. Furthermore all Evo parts cost a fortune from Mitshubishi dealer.

The fuel consumption I could live with as it's not that much worse than the IS200 but you get twice the power.

And the service intervals are a pretty standard 10K/12 months for the FQ-300.

But I've been told there are bits that need upgrading/changing like Conrods/MAF sensor/Diff pins/Timing chain etc.

Here's the newest service schedule for them (2013 models), looks like the oil service is every 3000 miles, CLICK ME?
Probably not much difference to the older versions though?

For a turbocharged, performance engine, I don't think 3000 miles is that bad to be honest.

Better safe than sorry.

Yeah, very short service intervals... the official service interval for an oil change on an MR2 Turbo or Celica GT4 is every 3,600 miles (5000km) though so it's not that unusual.
