Howdy guys

I finally took the plunge and treated myself to an is200 after shedding some ligaments and needing to buy an auto, and I must say that I wished I had made the move sooner! Totally living the car.

It seems I have actually have a Toyota Altezza that has been imported after 3 years in Japan and registered here as an is200. this doesn't overly bother me but it does mean that my Sat nav is all in hieroglyphics. Does anyone know if it's possible to make these useful without spending the earth or should I cut my losses and stitch an android tablet into the casing?

nexus 7 would be good. If you want an OEM replacement from the uk it's going to be expensive anyway.

Good job getting an altezza, bit quicker than the is200 and not so terrible on fuel!

yeah i was thinking that but im still drawn to the factory nav. its like its challenged me to get it working Tongue It seems to work, im missing the remote so I cant play with the functionality, and I am assuming its a Jap disk as when its up and running im driving in no mans land. https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/pl...directlink

It took me a while to find out it was an Altezza, they have put the lexus badges on it inside and out, it even has a lexus service book which covers it from 2004 when it made the trip to blighty. they even went as far as to cover the 'Altezza' in the speedo when they were recalibrating the clocks!!

Quite surprised at the amount of work thats gone into "covering" up that its actually an Altezza. Have you got cloth or half leather interior by any chance? Also, does the steering wheel have a lexus logo on it? If so then they would have either had to change the whole steering wheel or at least the airbag.

Yeah the wheel has a lexus logo, but it seems to be a rubber 'Sticker' like this i just found on a gooogley search [Image: dsc7646fix.jpg]

Got the nice jazzy cloth seats which are really comfortable. wanted the leather ones but this car was local and not a bad price so its all good.

There are a few tell tale signs though, the Key has a toyota badge on it, there is Japanese by the 'Shift Lock' hole by the shifter, and then there is the jap nav!! https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Wy...directlink

Sounds like yours is effectively an S model as you have the cloth seats etc. You'll probs have fully manual seats as well and I think no sunroof?
