Just had a call from HSBC today to tel me that they think some fraud has been done on my account. £10 in harrogate yesterday morning (i was @ work in loughborough) and £999.09 with royal sun alliance this morning (again i was at work working !!)

I phone up HSBC fraud line (as usual straight to an indian call centre) they said these amounts were still pending and they cant stop the transaction they can only investigate it after it happens....I was soo pissed off with this !!!

Seems like im in a fix as they have stopped my current debit card got to wait 5 days for a new one and then have to wait for them to get my money back (its not gone yet but it will!!)

Any one else had this sort of experiance and please let me know if u got all your money back!!

strange - i had something similar and all transactions were stopped straight away and put into dispute.

999.09 seems an odd figure - is it for insurance? if so then the policy will have details of the person

I've got text message alerting set up on my account so if anything over £100 is taken out or put into my account I get a message straight away - I'm thinking of dropping it to £50 but the only problem is then you get a lot more noise.

It's definitely worth doing though - although admittedly in your situation it wouldn't make much difference as it happened so quick!

Similar thing happened to my mate - some foreign guy booked an airline ticket about 2am and he'd flown at 7am that morning before anyone even noticed the transaction!

Yeah there are a lot of forums especially for that sort of thing mate.

Sometimes they'll do small amounts first just to check if it's valid, and once confirmed they go to town!

Sorry to hear that this has happened. At least the bank seem to have picked up on it pretty quickly. Hopefully you will get your money back very soon, but it must still be a pain to have it happen.

Mate you really need to add pressure on these guys.

It may be quicker and easier and cheaper to open a new account with another bank.
