Has anyone on here got a lightweight flywheel fitted? I'm interested in seeing how it affects the driving, idling etc and mpg. I assume a new clutch would also be needed if the dual mass was replaced.

Basically, is it worth doing and what are the +/- points.

As far as choice goes it's JUN or nothing really.

It might improve mpg slightly if you do a lot of town driving, but if anything it might make it worse on motorways as the car will rely more on the engine to smooth out the speed up slopes rather than inertia from the flywheel.

Should make the car feel more responsive and climb through the revs faster. Should also give you more BHP at the wheels, as less weight in the drive-train mean you lose less power before it gets to the wheels. How many you're likely to gain I don't know.

And yes you'd need a new clutch, OEM has a solid clutch and a sprung flywheel. So if you use a solid flywheel you'll want a sprung clutch.

Just so I've got this straight, the 1g-gte flywheel will bolt up to a 1gfe clutch?

edit: also will it even bolt up to the 1g-fe crank? I remember reading somewhere that the ge is 6 bolt and the gte is an 8 bolt or something like that.
