Questions about H4 bulbs...
Can you get single beam H4 HID bulbs? Because if you can then I can't see them. Or is it just a case of fitting the twin beam bulb and removing the shield or something?
Also, does anyone know if the Mazda2 has canbus on the lighting system?

19-09-2020, 05:16 AM #1My Mazda2 has H4 in the dipped beam projectors, and 9005/HB3 in the high beam reflectors. And I'm looking at getting HIDs for the projectors so they match the LED DRLs it has, but the only H4 HID kits I can find seem to be B-Xenon?

20-09-2020, 02:31 AM #2They can't be H4 mate, H4 are strictly dual filament bulbs so will always come in either bi-xenon or they'll have an HID bulb, with a little halogen on the side. You sure they're not HB4?
I thought maybe they still used an H4 but only had the dipped beam part wired up, because I didn't realise that H7 bulbs also has spade connection. So problem solved

20-09-2020, 03:10 AM #3Absolutely right Oli, on further research I finally found another website that specifies the difference between the twin filament single reflector version (which uses 1 x H4) and the version I have, which uses an HB3 for main beam and an H7 for dipped beam.
I thought maybe they still used an H4 but only had the dipped beam part wired up, because I didn't realise that H7 bulbs also has spade connection. So problem solved
After having looked at a couple websites online it indicated that you do have H7 bulbs, as you said.
There are plenty of places online which do HID H7s mate, glad my input was correct anyway

20-09-2020, 04:00 AM #4Yes mate, H7 just has the two spade connectors (power and ground obviously) whereas the H4 has 3 connectors, two for power (one for dipped and one for main) and they share the ground!

20-09-2020, 04:21 AM #5Yer I'm glad too as H7's are much easier to find and fit, and the bulbs are a lot cheaper too! Plus there are special versions of the H7 designed for projectors so they don't blank off the bulb unnecessarily.
