Supercharger on an auto ??
Supercharger on an auto ??
Hi everyone just wondered if it's possible to fit the supercharger to an auto as been reading up on this but everyone seems to talk about a uprating the clutch and flywheel too,so if it is possible would the auto box be up to the task ??
you don't need to upgrade the clutch and flywheel on the manual is200 to cope with a supercharger, it just makes your acceleration a bit quicker (if you get a lighter flywheel). The auto will be fine unless you're running something mad.
Thanks for that,I'm guessing the fitting of the supercharger is the same as you would on a manual ?
Almost exactly yes!
if you want an auto with more grunt, use the money you'd sink into a supercharged IS to buy an IS300. Then when you get bored of that, you can buy a lot of off the shelf 2JZ mods.
Do not supercharge your is200 auto . I did and it shagged my auto box
What year was your car Dave? There is a turbo IS200 auto knocking about down south that's running about 280-300 with the bog standard auto box.

Interesting to hear about the auto box! Do you think it was possibly on its way out already?
As for supercharging an auto, you need to modify the mount for the charger as there's oil lines running along side of the engine. Me and stav found out the hard way and had to chop my mount.
Talking about my charger, Stav will have to pop round to yours again sometime soon to finally finish the charger! I just need to get my decay manifold now and get the injectors cleaned then we'all be ready to finish the install
