I want to make some led rear lights that function as both brakes and side lights (skyline mod style). I'm assuming I need some kind of voltage regulator? I've done it before with a pwm, but that seems hugely overcomplicated for a pair of lights.

Would I be able to run the sidelights as one circuit with a large resistor in, then cut the brake wiring to bypass the resistor, thus increasing brightness?

Is300. I'm going to cut them open and stick led rings in them to use as running lights and brake lights. Fog wiring will then go to bulbs as normal, allowing them to operate independently.

you could wire them in series and parallel together?

its how the standard fans work,

both inline for normal, switch to parallel for brakes.

just needs a relay with 2 sets of contacts

That's not a bad idea actually. Do I need to put a diode on the brake positive wire?
