Well here goes.... when i got my car 3 weeks ago all was good and boosty, now the car doesent seem to pick up until around 4500 rmp and even then it aint much to brag about, ive just had overheating issues wich turned out to be the thermostat and a blocked return pipe, however the previous owner has put the fans on a constant live so the car doesent get hot enuf for the thermostat to open, anyway it did go flat now and agean before that but the boost problem seemd to come after all that.... anyone got any ideas?? Cheers

Yeah i thort that mate, just with it coming on with the overheating i thort maybe the turbo overheated and fryed some how, it does have a manual boost controller plumbed in under the engine wich has very soft pipes, do ya think they could be collapsing under pressure?

It's likely, but if it's taking a while to come on boost it might be a leak on the pipework though, as that been off to fix the water problems?

The water feed pipe to the turbo from the water tank was took off and checked for blockages wich was fine and at the top of the turbo and pipework so nothing else had to be removed, the rest of it was at the front of the engine, ill just pull it apart at the weekend and see if theres any obvious holes or splits in any pipe, this is my first turbo car so its all alien to me but i guess thats half the fun in having a new car is gettin to no it.

Do you have a boost gauge? I'd aim for a boost leak to do you have a induction kit? The afm can get dirty and cause problems I've had scoops for years mate awesome cars

Yes i have a boost gauge mate, seems wierd to me when the car is off it sits at 0 and when the car is on it sits at the bottom, when i got the car i was told it was set up to rum 1.1 bar and on the gauge its showing half of that, and yes it has a pipercross cone filter.

Yeah it should drop low on idle as the car pulls a vacuum.

I'd say boost leak did you say it has a manual boost controller ? If yes have you been playing with it?

I'd don't get your explanation of the boost gauge mate.
Now with the piper cross filter (good choice they sound awesome on scoobys ) they do get the afm a bit coked up with poop so to clean them you need some carbon cleaner and some cotton wool ear buds spray the cleaner on the buds and stroke the blade on the afm gently it helps to keep them running right
