Sally from the Isle of Wight! Hi!
Hi everyone!
So this is the first time that I've ever used a forum, but I thought that now my 'little car' is pootling about, it would be really great to socialise with it and join a club! Not only that, I head forums are excellent for support and advice, which I am always very much grateful of, especially where car restoration is concerned. It was all well and good planning the purchase, and getting the basics done, however now I'm finding that I'm hitting little corners that I'd really appreciate the opinion of other on - because hey, maybe you've had the same thing to think about too!
So I'm Sally, I'm 29, and like you, I love my car
I named it (I'm sorry :blushing, it's called "Eddie" and it's a 1989 3.0l Turbo Toyota Supra, in the original white pack.
^ Haw, those logs for support...:blushing:
I bought the car, private sale, for £950, which to be honest, considering it drove all the way back from Birmingham to the Isle of Wight without a hitch, and still continues to purr graciously, I am seriously happy.
The engine is sound (touching EVERY wooden table available) with an upgraded battery as of last week.
Electrics all fine too.
Some amount of surface rust to the body in places - little spots about the size of your little finger nail, which I've patched up for now until I can get me to some other method with a tad more longevity.
One problem is...the rear sills are shot, and the exhaust system could use a complete "old off, new on" kind of thing, which I'm actually going to go ahead with a custom from Powerflow with. Experience advice welcome there
It's in the garage on Monday for a quote on the sills, and I am expecting quite a dent in my purse to be honest, but in my heart, I don't want to give up on him ^^ That's what reviving lovely old cars is about, right?
So I would absolutely love to get to know you all better as one of the group here, and hope to even come to any meets you may have in the future! Meet Eddie too ^^
Hope you're having a lovely Friday, and thanks for having me here!
Sally.
Welcome to the club Sally.
And I must say it's one of the best introductions from a new member I've seen.
Also loving the logs. They would be great for my stove lol
