Fleabay Bonnet Struts

However they came with no instructions and in the advert it states "Installation is pretty straight forward hence no fitting guide provided."

So i did a quick search to see if anyone had had any joy and found a few other posts saying they didn't have the instructions so thought I'd do a walkthrough to make it easier for anyone else buying them!

The installation IS pretty straight forward, but it took me a while to work out where and which direction everything was supposed to fit.

Here they are Sus.Tec Bonnet Dampners for D40 / Pathfinder

They fit in with just 2 bolt each so nice and easy.

Prop open your bonnet with the original strut and look for the TOP nut on the bonnet (strut side first, i only got photo's of the driver side)

Simply un bolt that nut and slip the top of the strut over it. They are stamped L & R so makes it easier for you, and the metal piece goes UP and OUT from the bolt.

Re tighten the nut (If you're a purist it's torqued to 13Nm)

Then undo this bolt 1/3 way down the side of the bonnet:

Insert the bolt thought the base clip and re tighten (not sure of torque for that one Wink )

Then LIFT the bonnet off the original stay (as the struts hold it higher) and put the bottom strut bolt through the stay.

Tighten the 13mm nut onto the bolt

Repeat for the other side, replacing the original stay in the meantime to support the bonnet fully.

Then simply remove the original stay by turning into the engine bay 90 degrees and pulling out. (I put mine in with boot with the tool kit in case of any problems with the struts it can be simply re installed)

All Done!

The gas struts work exactly the same as the boot ones, they need a little pull to start to lift the bonnet but when pushing down you can get enough force lock the bonnet closed in one motion.

Hope this helps!
