Jon's Celica GT4 ST205
Jon's Celica GT4 ST205
Hi guys, finally picked up my Celica last weekend from JM Imports, thought I'd start a thread of what I do with it. Priorities for the car are to first make sure it's as reliable as it can be, secondly to get it it cosmetically perfect, and finally up the power only slightly to ~300hp (currently sitting at around 270).
The car is fresh from Japan, 1998 with 83,000 miles on it and only some minor mods. Seems mechanically and structurally perfect, have put 500 miles on it this week and it hasn't missed a beat!
Brace yourselves...there's a lot of pictures :p
These are from when I first picked it up
Getting it's MoT before I picked it up
Underneath before it was undersealed, very clean for 20 years old!
Here she is at home, unfortunately it doesn't fit in the garage, not sure I'd want to put it in there anyway to be honest, think it's about to fall down!
No idea what the wheels are but I quite like them. They say "Antigua", possibly by AEZ. Could do with a refurb at some point.
Main bonnet grill is a little patchy, currently repainting it but think I'm going to get a new one at some point.
Couple of pictures of how it looked inside before I got it
I've gotten rid of all those electricity ports on the center console, and replaced the seats. Has old school Blitz Dual Boost Controller and Turbo Timer.
Seats are second hand Cobra Daytona's, just about fit!
Couple of pictures of the engine bay, has a Blitz air intake and BOV
Now on to a few of the bits I want to get sorted soon, as well as a few small chips in the paint which I didn't bother taking pictures of.
Here you can just see the front headlight has popped out slightly, really common problem on these.
Both side skirts are coming off slightly but the driver's side is the worst.
Barely anything but the front lip and one of the rear spats are coming off slightly.
Drivers side windscreen seal has popped out in the corner, hoping it doesn't all need to be replaced but I have a feeling it will.
And there we have it! Like I say the main thing I want to do is make it super clean and as close to as new as possible. There's also a few bits in the interior which need sorting, especially inside the boot, looks like a previous owner installed a load of speakers etc. not very well and has but a couple of the panels. Also need to get the wiring all looked at, don't have a stereo at te moment, and the hazard light makes a worrying noise when pressed, but works fine when the car is started, also the remote locking doesn't work, hoping the key just needs a new battery.
Got the car booked in for a service and inspection at a local specialist (John French in Stourbridge) in a few weeks, having new spark plugs, coolant, gearbox oil, and diff oil all changed.
Will keep it updated with the progress, though it will mostly be boring cosmetic stuff!
Hopefully see you all at Japfest next week!
One last picture for good luck
