****** hell is that big enoughhock:
However a little confused as it seams the only press release I can find states the ALtezza Beams engine minus VVT-I is used? But thats deffo a 1G-FE
"The contending IS200s have been prepared by the ABG team and will use the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder 16-valve engine as fitted to Japanese-market IS200 models, without the VVT-I variable valve timing in accordance with BTCC regulations.
The race engines will produce 270 bhp, and be able to rev to 8,500 rpm. The race cars will also feature an Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox, AP disc brakes, BF Goodrich tyres and 17-inch OZ racing wheels, common to all the contenders under the new regulations."
Blimey, that is pretty big! Was the BTCC car a 1G-FE then? I was under the misconception that it had the 4 cylinder Altezza engine in it.......
Is that pic definitely the BTCC car ? Or could we be looking at a pic of one thing and a press release about another ?
Thats what i was beggining to think myself Steve.
From Wikipedia: "The RS200 was also used by many racing teams, including TRD, to race in various touring car racing series across Asia. A Lexus IS 200, based on a heavily modified RS200, has also raced in the British Touring Car Championship.[15]"
Was quite exited that the 1G-FE had been made to rev and produce decent power (240-270ish for touring car). Strangely though it is definitely a race prepped 1G-FE based car (and it came up with a list of BTCC stuff.) Maybe was a prototype? Interested to find out where it is from if it isnt BTCC...........
Yeah they weren't brilliant, but given the drivers were unknowns not sure if it was the car or driver - bizarrely they weren't particularly reliable either
When we used to get the BTCC tickets for free, we used to see them quite regular and nearly every race they were towed off for some reason or another?
They did sound very nice though :thumbup1:
edeath .
