A week ago Friday gone, was the second time i had driven the car since we had all the bad whether. Mrs had just driven it, so it was warmed up ready to go, turned on the heaters and the smell of death hit me.

Opened up the bonnet to find this

Didnt realise what it was until later, a mauled chicken bone with a few droppings around it....no rubbish collections for two weeks!!....yeap a mouse had got under the bonnet.

First i removed the pollen filter, which had droppings on it and bits of the foam it had chewed on the recirculation flap. the bottom corner of the filter was ripped and I thought bo:cursing:ks the little :cursing:has got into the blower and died.

I then dropped the blower to find some good news and some fluidRolleyes......the blower had no droppings in it and neither did the duct leading to the vents....no dead rodent!!......gave the fan a good clean with some dettol!

Put it all together again and gave it all a good clean, turned on the heaters, smell was no where near as bad but was still there, so put in a new filter and got one of those air con bombs that kills all the bacteria in the system, smells fresh as a daisy now!!

Still aint put the car back on the drive yet, and im paranoid, keep checking the bonnet and pollen filter everday!!

That's nut's, glad you got it sorted out tho, when i was serving my time a owner of a Volvo came in complaining of the smell in his car when heaters on, eventually found a dead cat in the engine under gaurd, it had climbed in to get some warmth and must have got the shock of it's last life when the big volvo started up again, my journeyman had to go throw up after we got it out:lol:

Confusedcared:Rats are no good for car wiring:confused:to be safe , check all your wiring under the dash ,under the wheel arches, engine bay etc
rats tend to eat the wires, and shorts start, and the next thing is a large bill:cursing:
