abactus I am not sure if it is the same. I have not had a lexus for long so am not too sure. I will try find out and if it is I can let you know and you can ask him for me if that is okay

Asi I am not sure what the sensor looks like, from what I gather it is not far from the water pump. Let me try get a pic of where it is, would a pic of the actual crank sensor help?

The crank position sensor fits into the bottom of the driver's side of the engine (for RHD cars), near to the front, near the oil pump.

Sorry, I don't know the history of this, but are you sure this is at fault ?

Diagram here.

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

thanks for that excellent diagram steviewevie. Lexus have said it is the trottle body which I am getting off stav. All the other garages I have spoke to say the crank sensor can cause these issues from their experience in the past. What is your advice?

okay will do. Lexus say the throttle body I put in the car will need to be reprogrammed. Spoke to a garage near me and they claim only Lexus can reprogram the throttle bodies. Is that true or not?
