Hopefully Nathan won't mind me posting this...

There are 10 or so really high power MR2s in the UK (loads more in the States naturally) but one of the most interesting ones is the Century Motorsports / Marangoni Tyres drag car. It's got a custom 2.2l stroker kit (using a reground 5S-FE crank), GT35r w/TO4Z compressor wheel, custom chassis work / intake & exhaust manifolds / exhaust, BMIC and has been on a serious weight loss programme. Oh yeah, Nitrous Oxide Injection too Wink However it's still a 3S-GTE (ported & polished) head & block, fully built & driven by Nathan at Century Motorsports, who is an ex go kart & formula ford champion, and currently doing rather well in the Ginetta G50 cup. Last year Marangoni decided they wanted the car to represent their corporate look so it went through a complete restyle and this is the end result:

Slow-mo launch showing how much the car likes to move around under acceleration (check out how near the right-hand side wall it ends up after the shift to 2nd)

As for final power figures, Nathan's not given us a recent figure but this is from a mapping run for TOTB last year:

Century Motorsport The car was on the dyno today, lets say it was, er, sucessful.

638hp at wheels, 490lb/ft.

That was with a 50 nos shot. Power without a nos shot was 596 @ wheels.

With the 18% transmission losses thats 778hp @ flywheel

Keep in mind the 141 terminal i did was with 512....

The car won fastest RWD 1/4 mile, the RWD 1/4m drag shootout and 2 other trophes at TOTB last year and should be dominating all at TOTB this year, fingers crossed it's not as hot as last years and hopefully the car will get into the 9's!

Yeah I'm not so keen on the looks. However the pop up lights weigh nearly as much as the moon *each* and black over white is the sponsor's colours so it's all pretty nessecary. The arches are bolted on because they're a set of universal arches from Woodsport (will fit any car) and filler adds more weight, etc. etc.

Sounds like a good reason to replace them then ! I'm not too keen on the bug-eyed look but it sounds like it's been done for a good reason !

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !
