Say you have a bad condition rim, has corrosion all over it, paint coming off yeah? You want to refurbish your wheel.
Jack your car up and remove the 5 nuts holding the wheel on place.
First of all, buy some paint stripper from your local DIY shop, homebase, b&q. We used Nitromors from homebase.
Then spread an even coat all over the corroded wheel. Let paint blister, then give another coat, then wait about 5 mins, and give a third coat, wait another 5 minutes and try and scrape the paint off, if there are still patches of paint, then put more coats of paint stripper on.
Wash your wheel down, to remove all paint and paint stripper.
Wait for wheel to dry.
Then if you see white clumps on your wheel, you have corrosion, you want to get some wet and dry sand paper, we used p800 and p400, and it worked a treat. (we only have after pics, no before ones)
Paint stripped but corrosion still on alloy.

After corrosion rubbed off (the grey part is not corrosion, this is just where paint has come off. (I do not know why the wheel looks so grey, it was not this grey!) [Image: DSCF0072.jpg]
Then you have to put a layer of primer, once you are definitely sure all is smooth and corrosion rubbed off.
Primed using orange primer (2 coats)

Then once primer has dried, start evenly spraying your alloy again, with any paint colour of your choice.

Then apply your lacquer, do 2 coats to make it extra shiny.

Clean center cap, and put it back on.
Then clay the whole wheel, to make sure all the little bits, and over coat of paint is removed.
Then put your wheel back on the car and admire your work. Do it to as many wheels as need be.
Don't forget rep lol Wink

I dont do any work like that in the garage because of all the dust.

I not that long ago did a welding repair on my mates trailor, just about built a new one for him. Once we were finished I was devastated with the mess and had to hoover the whole garage including the loft space all beams , walls ,floor, roof etc etc. Could not bare the thought of any of the dust falling down on the car

would have used filler mate, but takes a few hours to set, and we wanted a quick, but good finish.
We also used a dremel to get at the kerb around the alloy.
And nitromors did not attack the alloy mate. We only used it for approx 15 mins, so if it did, it probably would have in that time, WEAR A GLOVE THOUGH This stuff ate through an old credit card when we were scraping the paint off.
