Hi boys and girls

been playing around with the standard thermostat (in the cars engine)

took it out and drilled 5 holes in the outside part put back.
The car ran alot colder to much it never got off cold start wooops!

Anyway got a new one and drilled just one 5mm hole in it the car now runs at
75c like the trd one and all for 10 pound.

As i have a turbo on the car its made a big difference
the heaters still work fine as well.

For those who want a colder running thermostat and dont want to spend the
money on a trd one.

Matt

Things done :- SPC turbo kit (custom), Blueflame cat back with custom tip, B&M shortshift, grooved discs all round, Mintex pads all round, OEM wheels in white,Denso ik22s, Calipers painted black,04 spec rear lights, Tein basic coilovers, Helix organic clutch, Fan washer jets, late spec headlights (dark), Carbon bonnet, Hotchkis anti roll bars, Front arm rest, Top box from late spec.

Hmmm OK now but in cold winter it will take longer to heat up.

When you say it made a big difference because you've got a turbo, can you be more specific ?

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

Then again the turbo cars do run a significantly hotter then N/A ones so it could be a better option for keeping the water temp down.

yeah the car does run hotter than n/a just helps to keep it down

its only a 5mm hole so the car still takes the same time to warm up just it sits at 75c when driving and not 82c.

dont know about it when it gets cold but i always let my car warm up before i drive it.

I wonder if my old Lex would benefit from his mod?
