Tuesday joke
Nelson is lying wounded and being attended to by Hardy, when the French flagship puts up a new signal.
Hardy look puzzled, and Nelson notices and says: "What is it, man?"
"It's a signal I've never seen before, sir"
"Read it out" commands Nelson.
So Hardy, rather hesitatingly, reads: "At the water it is the hour"
"At the water it is the hour?" repeats Nelson, also struggling to understand. "Are you sure, Hardy?"
"As far as I can see, sir" replies Hardy.
Nelson pauses for breath and then says to Hardy: "What does it say in French?"
Hardy puts his telescope back to his eye and replies:
"A l'eau, c'est l'heur!"
