Coming away from a mates house this evening, I joined the dual carriage way as normal and found the IS wanting to pull to the left. I assumed this was just down to the tracks on the road (which i was trying to keep out of as they were water logged), but thought nothing more.

A few minutes later I came off down a slip road to a set of red lights. Again the steering felt like it wanted to go left. So I let go of the wheel, and to my amazement, the steering wheel turned its self a whole 45 degrees to the left on its own!!!

As I went to straighten it up again it felt kind of light - almost like me correcting the angle of the steering wheel wasn't actually doing anything to the wheels on the road.

Down a quiet road I did a 40-0mph stop with my hands off the wheel and the car did not pull to one side at all, nor did the steering wheel move.

I only had full alignment done about a month ago too.

Any ideas?

Sorry I meant 90 degrees not 45. Basically the top centre of the steering wheel turned all the way round to the turn signal stick! Could road camber really do that? I drive that road a lot and it's never happened before Confused

Maybe the car spotted some random GReddy item you have yet to buy and was trying to lead you in the right direction?

Either way, something to keep an eye on methinks...

I did have a quick look at the wheels before putting it in the garage, but tbh I was more checking for rim damage. I'll check pressures tonight.

May be a silly question, but is the steering wheel directly physically connected to the wheels or is there lots of electrical gadgetry in between?

Your problem might be the ball bearings of the suspension arms. Have you ever changed them?
