Close shave
Close shave
Had a bit of a close shave last night, was driving down the A312 taking bro and sis in law to heathrow and moved into the bus lane as it was past 7 and no one was using it - a car in front of me turned left, and just as I was about to put my foot down I saw a guy in a bright yellow jacket about 200m down the road hold up a speed gun........
Luckily I saw him just in time so just lifted off and cruised past, first time I've ever been speed checked (that I know of) and I didn't like it much :tongue_smilie:
You should be happy as they are doing an important job catching arch criminals speeding down our otherwise safe roads..........................................................:glare:

That's how I got done years ago when I worked in Kent but I didn't even see them so must've been hiding. On the M25 Saturday evening I went past a traffic car abit too fast but they didn't seem bothered!
Coming back from Heathrow on the M4 around 11.00 in the evening I was in the middle lane doing around 75-80 mph with no other traffic around me when what appeared to be a 4x4 vehicle came up behind me quite quickly and then just sat on my tail. Put up with it for about a mile then accelerated up to around 120 mph, moved over to the inside lane and returned to 75 mph again (it didn't take long:blushing. The following car caught up with me, sat alongside for a while then accelerated away after briefly flashing the blues. Lucky or what?

That was a bit lucky! But that's a slightly weird thing to do on an otherwise empty motorway, maybe they were bored!
Maybe just running a check on my details? There was two of them in the car and both gave me an extended look as they stayed alongside. I don't know if they could of recorded the speed I reached, but either way obviously decided it wasn't worth the bother of pulling me over for a chat. Need to be more observant really as the silhouette in the mirrors just looked like a 4x4 with a roof-rack, not a panda car with a bubble machine on top.
I had a bit of a scare the other day. Was driving home from my folks house down this long country road and in the far distance I could see a cop car. Within about 30 seconds they was up my a$$ and I could feel them watching my every move.
Then after a few minutes of tailing me, they slapped on their headlights (even though it wasn't dark). I assumed they was going to flash me and start making signs to pull over, but they didn't!
At the next junction they just turned off their lights and went their own way.

That's what kinda prompted me to buy my Pogo Alert. I do give it some welly when conditions allow, but I want to make sure there's no-one hiding in the bushes with a laser/radar.
