WHo has a turbo timer and how does it work
OK so here is the thing i have just fitted a turbo timer to my car as most of you know my car is far from standard.
I have a aftermarket alarm so a standard adaptor loom just wont work
so i have made my own following the principals of it fitting
this is how i have fitted mine
Locate aftermarket alarms IGN wire (either Cut or unsolder from car loom)
take the Ignition output from the New turbo timer and Wire to pin 86 on a relay
install a diode between 86 to 87a with band towards 86.
Take the alarm wire and connect to 87a.
12volt + constant supply, fused at 30amps to 87.
Ground (earth) to 85.
factory wire connected to 30.
now with all the above done it works if i take keys out the ignition it starts counting down and after the alloted time it will turn the ignition off.
however i thought the idea of a turbo timer is you could get out the car with it still running and lock it and walk away and after the allotted time it would turn off ?
All you others with turbo timers how does yours work ?
The only turbo timer functions I'm aware of that work properly with alarms are the ones built into the alarm itself (I think only Clifford do this). With mine, I could lock the doors with the alarm fob but it wouldn't actually arm unless I came back to the car after it had run down.
Mine worked as you describe though, take key out which kills ACC, engine keeps running until timer has counted down at which point IGN gets cut and engine stops. But you can't arm the alarm with the engine running so all it did was lock the doors at the point of exiting the car.
I don't miss mine, I think they are pointless anyway
I've never been able to set any of my cars alarm with the TT running.
With the exception of my evo that I had. But that had the Clifford alarm system.
I no with the 200sx there's a pulse wire (iirc) that can be rewired into the TT's loom so that the standard alarm can be set.
You can do it, but i dont know how afraid
I wanted the same thing, My alarm guy siad he can do it by adding a few relays in etc but i never bortherd as i was not that fussed at the time. He does pop into my work now and then, if i catch him i will ask for you
From memory he said all it does is put a delay on for the alarm to be switched on so you going to have to decide how long you want the delay on for,
I have had my turbo timer go on to 12 min lol

Rabster does your car stay armed if you use the remote start? on my skyline it would arm after i locked the car and with the timer running, and if i didn't lock the car and opened the door while still on the timer it would cut the engine, and sound the alarm?
That was a clifford system on that? from what i remember the timer could be wired through the alarm, so it knew it was running using the remote start circuit or something like that?
There was something on My.is i found.
if you have both IGN connected it wont lock, if you dont have (i think) IGN1 connected it works and you can lock, but the alternator wont charge while its running.
hmm
might have to have a further look at the diagrams later then, strangely enough when the timer kicks in all my ACC items turn off so im half way there lol
Sorry completely forgot about this mate, had a couple of issues to deal with at home
