Any one else play with there pic's? love trying to change the image so it looks different, can spend hours messing with them, some work out but a lot i end up starting again :whistling:

Some of the ones i've been messing with, still got so much to learn but enjoy trying :thumbup1:

Quite like the desaturated look and the use of the solar tint :thumbup1:

But going to try a few new styles now, and see what i can come up with :whistling:

Yea, Oli uses gimp and he likes it, but I would rather use PS as its a leading brand that is recognised world wide and once you master it then everything else is easy.
If I used gimp then I would have no idea to touch up if I came across PS at some point, and this will bound to happen

The processes are essentially the same across the different applications Phil although there might be some difference in how you achieve them. But the idea is that you would get an idea of how various processes etc worked and to what degree, and all without paying out a large amount of cash for photoshop... And then move to photoshop if you actually have to (only worth doing IMO if you need something that you CAN'T do in free software)

Or, as you say, hold off and do nothing until at some point you can get a copy of photoshop, and start the whole curve then.

Chris, what effects did you apply to the one you're now using as an avatar? I fancy having a bit of a play with some pics of my own

Dave, i usually start with desaturating the image to give me a b+w pic, then play with the contrast levels, lighting, solar levels, sharpness, pick certain area's of the pic and change with colour change, but using another area of the photo itself so it still blends in Big Grin basically i just mess until i like it

This is the original of my avatar pic..
