Standard head unit/ amp
Standard head unit/ amp
I deleted my amp altogether and just installed a bypass loom. I still have standard speakers with my Pioneer HU and they sound great...but not good enough in terms of clarity and definition.
Integration with the standard amp is complicated, and should only really be attempted by someone very competent with auto electrics.
The basic options are:
A) run standard system.
B) aftermarket headunit, amp by-pass cable and standard speakers.
C) aftermarket headunit, amp by-pass cable and aftermarket speakers.
D) aftermarket headunit, aftermarket amp, aftermarket speakers.
All of the following are probably possible, but are not generally done, due to the way the system works, and complexity of the task would probably not be worth the hassle for the given results:
Running standard headunit with aftermarket amps.
Running aftermarket headunits with standard amp.
Running aftermarket speakers with standard amp.
Running standard speakers with aftermarket amp.
I am going for option D. Just a matter of getting everything together so I can do the full job in one day.
If you remove the OEM head unit you loose sat nav (if its installed).
There are dongles correct this annoyance but I am not sure who sells them now.
O right, didnn't think there would be no sound at all.
Hmm.... and didn't think about the sat nav. If i'd have known that i wouldn't have bought a Navigator model, and hunted for a sport LOL! ****** typical!
Why are cars so god **** expensive to modify! All I want is some decent tunes in the car, and at the min I have to burn a cd everytime I get some new music. GRR!
james we can get the Nav working without the factory radio connected, alternatively we could change your screen at the top to be a dvd output or car pc etc lol
