With a new heart. The only thing Wayne wanted to look at that I just could not afford him to was the oil pick up. Another part of the build that Toyota GT ****** up.

Wonder how long it will last this time. I tracked this car to TBDEV at the start of the year, I wonder if this is the same owner or whether it's yet another one.

Didn't Phil put an MR2 3S-GTE in?
Thought the Celica and MR2 ones were slightly different?

There are a few differences, for example now it could have power steering from the GT4, before it was electric from the MR2.

The oil pick up is different in the GT4 also. But essentially the engines are the same.

*slightly*

What I would classify as the engines are identical minus some water pipework.

The intercoolers and ECUs are different (I run a GT4 air/water cooler on my car with the ECU to match, where the MR2 is a conventional air to air intercooler). The turbos are the same if the GT4 engine was from Japan, but UK GT4s have different turbos.

All the important stuff, block, head, cams, valves, crank, rods, pistons, manifolds etc etc are all identical, even all the same part numbers. Same compression ratio, same sump, etc. Oil pumps and water pumps are the same. The Celica has a belt driven power steering pump mounted on the engine like most cars, where the MR2 has a big DC electric pump in the front of the car. As a result of this there are some differences in idle control, more plumbing. The MR2 has the alternator where the Celica has the power steering pump. But that's all just stick on stuff really.

You might be surprised to learn (given that the MR2 is RWD and the GT4 is 4WD) that the gearboxes are the same as well Smile
