I get this mostly when turning on to my driveway which is up a slope. There is a kind of popping noise that seems to be coming from the front suspension and is fed through the steering wheel.

A quick search seems to suggest drop links or ball joints. Which one should I start with?

Also I'm not sure if its related, but when I get out of the car I get a slight creaking noise. I've always put this down to a slight movement of the wheels when the handbrake is on though.

Have you tried to get in there with a bar or level and feel from any free play in the suspension, to try and narrow down the cause?

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

I had it up on jacks the other day and couldn't see/feel anything obvious. I know that when I had my coilovers put on they had issues with my drop links and ended up grinding one off and replacing it. The other side still has the original OEM one in place though.

When you go prying it's much easier if you have the suspension compressed as though the car's on the road. Best done on ramps!

I might pop it down to a local garage then and see what they say.

Wondering if I should just buy a new set of drop links and ball joints anyway and ask them to fit them while its up on the ramps. Aftermarket sets seem to go for £50ish, so droplinks + ball joints + fitting = ~£150-160 total.
