Over the next few months I will be embarking on many electrical related mods. I will have to buy all sorts of oddments (relays, solder, heat shrink, wire, connector blocks, fuses, diodes etc.) I am not very experienced at this kind of thing, but understand most of the theory, and am willing to give (almost) anything a bash!

There is the obvious Maplins, and I am very experienced in the use of ebay! I have a CPC account, and can also order through a friend, (in order to make up the value for free delivery!)

I know none of these items are exactly expensive, but sometimes every penny counts! Also choice of selection and speed/cost of delivery can be factors sometimes.

I expect the likes of Rabs and Stav, as well as others, get through a lot of these things? Or do you just "source" them from work?

Where can anyone recommend shopping?

EDIT: Maybe I should have put this in the "General Discussions - Car Audio/Video/Electronics/Security" section? D'oh! Mods please move and delete this line if you feel appropriate.

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

We use RS Components for all our electical bits at work. However Maplins are useful if you just need to pop out quickly for a length of cable or heat shrink etc.

moved the thread mate,

theres also a company call Key who are like RS.

I use Ebay a lot of the time to order bits and bobs (diodes, relays, etc)

some of it is indeed "sourced" but a lot we dont have so i have to buy them, generally buy a few at a time though

I find VWP are pretty expensive (so are Maplin)! Farnell, RS, CPC and eBay are my usual sources! I've bought some stuff from rawcomponents.co.uk before too.

I use ebay for all my wire, heatshrink, connectors, soldering irons, solder etc...

All very cheap and most of it is free shipping.

Oh yeah, definitely get yourself one of these if you haven't already. They are awesome for working in cars.
