Braking
Braking
It's not normal - mine doesn't do that. No idea on the cause though, maybe the brake discs have warped or something?
Unusual for it to pull to the left AND right. If it was pulling to one side I would suggest the same as Dean, sticking calliper. Try checking first by jacking up the front and trying to spin the front wheels to see if they are free to turn. Also if a sticking calliper, after a run your should feel one brake getting very hot.
dont get any vibrating through the pedal or the wheels. Car has done nearly 50,000 miles could it be time for new discs? I was thinking of upgrading to drilled. I'll jack it up 2moro and check to see if the wheels are spinning freely like you said dave. Also, how do I tell if the disc is warped?
Was it a stretch of road you use regularly?
It may not be the car at all.
There's a section of road about 50m long coming up to some traffic lights on my way to the athletics track, and I noticed that under hard-ish braking coming up to the lights a couple of times the car wiggled left and right as you described...
Turned out it was where the road had developed two grooves from heavy lorries using it all day as it's near the BMW factory in Oxford and it was just the wheels being pulled into the grooves.
Its all broken, sell it and get a Supra.
as sprinter and Jim said, deep ruts caused by HGV
Was from telford to wolverhampton, not sure the name of the motorway/A road. Was just before I was coming off at the exit, it has happened to me before tho but not as bad because this time I was doing a bit more speed. I'm going to order some brake discs soon. And 2tongues I wish I could afford to run a supra!
