Really need some help I brought a japspeed manifold and down pipe went to take off my heat sheilds and that's as far as I've got I can't get off the heat shields really stuck I know it sounds petty but I'm flumuxed by this can anybody tell me how to do this like step by step or pictures can't cope with the sound of it blowing sounds like a wet fart

So your tuckin 15's, that's cute but come back to me when you get some proper size wheels

Is it bolts you can't get out? I cannot get the bolts out of the manifold on my Lex, I simply cannot!

Though I'd suggest trying WD40 (or similar) loads of it, repeatedly, and an impact wrench. Possibly heating it too?

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

If you can get some "PlusGas" it is the best penetrating oil on the market. Far better then WD40.

2 of the bolts on the top of the heatshield snapped straight off but I can't get to the back on well I can't get a tool in to get it and the bolts are bigger than 11mm smaller than 12mm and I've tried loads of different sizes metric and imperial

So your tuckin 15's, that's cute but come back to me when you get some proper size wheels

What he said!

Chris0121 2 of the bolts on the top of the heatshield snapped straight off but I can't get to the back on well I can't get a tool in to get it and the bolts are bigger than 11mm smaller than 12mm and I've tried loads of different sizes metric and imperial

They won't be imperial. They will most likely be 12mm but someone has previously rounded them. Toyota only use 10, 12 or 14mm bolts for things like that.

I had to use a swan necked spanner to get the one off that's sandwiched between the heat shield and the cabin. Needs to be a 'closed' 6 sided spanner. It's a right pain, you can only do it by touch but obviously can't do it when the engine's warm!

The top bolts very commonly snap, your only choice there really is to drill and retap.

Edit: Hold on, yours is an N/A isn't it. Which heat shield are you trying to get off, the very top one or the one that runs down the manifold?

And yh its the na the one that runs the whole way down the manifold Is it just the 2 bolts on top one on the bend close to the firewall and one further down the exhaust close to the join of the downpipe and manifold I think it's attached to the block there are they the only 4 that hold the heat shield on then it's just a case of in bolting the manifold from the downpipe and then the block slide the new one up bolt it on and hey presto or is it a lot harder than that?

Yes it's the one with the heat shield the whole length of the manifold

Does this help? Suggests 3 bolts and 2 nuts for the top heatshield?

You'll need to be taking those 2 support brackets off at the base of the manifold too.

That helps thanks still think this'll be a big job the new manifold doesn't have any brackets or holes for the shields so getting them off will be difficult but putting it back on should be easier
