I'm not after an all singing, all dancing alarm system/tracker. Just something that I can use to immobilise the car with via a text if the car gets hijacked or nicked and there's a short timeframe between me noticing.

Do you think that will do the job?

Yeah, when i clicked the link and saw it was selling for less that £70, i thought that was cheap, was expecting over the £200 mark.

True true. I suppose you could hook the relay to something of less importance than the fuel pump? Maybe the horn/headlights/boot release/hazards. So at the very least if the car does get stolen with the key, you can still manually set off the alarm and draw attention to it

HI mate you might want to look into something like the clifford Call guard unit its more expensive gives you more features so if u lock your keys in the boot or car etc you can pop or open the windows along with shutting down the fuel pump or what ever you want to wire it into lol

Hi mate, yeah eventually I think I will invest in a proper alarm and possibly even a proper tracker as the OEM stuff is pretty woeful. Leaving the car outside at night does make me itchy. I'm really just looking for an interim product at the moment tho while funds are tight.

Have spent far too much money on 'cars' and insurance recently, not to mention the Mrs and 3 kids at crimbo....argh!

£300 I could deal with. So you don't need any other Clifford bits in order to make it work, or any yearly subscription malarky?

i have it running in my car with an O2 PAYG sim card. when i had the lexus i topped it up 3 times in the 2 years it was installed so 30quids worth of credit....

no it will work without the clifford alarm you have to be a little savy with the wiring but yeah it can work without it the only thng you would need to do it make a negative O/p from the cars factory alarm system to tell the clifford that its armed but we can sort that with a few relays mate:biggrin:

Sounds good mate. I wonder what the best thing to hook the 'kill switch' up to would be? At first I was thinking the fuel pump, but if the thief was ragging the car down the m-way and I just shut off the pump I'm thinking this could kill the engine?
