8th Annual Brass Monkeys Run
8th Annual Brass Monkeys Run
On the 27th I went on the above event, a run from Brandon in Suffolk to Wells-Next-The-Sea. Open to all Hot Rods, Classics and of course American cars of all shapes and sizes. This was a very well attended meet over 60 cars, a few motorbikes - and extremely well organised, with marshals along the way making sure everyone got to the destination and didn't get lost along the way. Even had a fuel stop as people had already travelled a long way to get to Brandon.
Sierra with a V8 - insanely fast wasted all the Corvettes
V8 Capri (Rover V8) overheated and died after 20 miles - its a Ford/Rover design fault apparently
We set out from The Ram in Brandon. With the T-Bars out as the weather was so nice and went to Waitrose car park to meet other later arrivals, in the 1st half we were behind a few older cars so it was quite slow - the 2nd half we followed the Corvettes, Mustang and the other fast cars - to say it was a spirited run would be an understatement, thank the lord Trans Am isn't lowered as the roads were not suitable for that fast and low........... Our old MR2 turbo would have been left behind for sure.
Going back in Easter for the Easter Bonnet run. Last year there were some Jap cars, and there were some VW's there also - so open to all really!!
Nice one Phil :-) so your trans am is all legal now mate? Do love yank tanks sometimes :-)

Some seriously gorgeous cars there! I miss my american muscle car days .. but not the fuel bills ... Great to see your Trans Am over the holiday Phil - Burt is amazing !! Can I play with the pop up lights at the Fast Show ? please
Mikey - that thing was fast, no idea what power it was but we could hear it when the peddle was hitting the floor and we were 3 cars away. We kept up with it, no way would we have got past.
Sam - Glad you liked him he is a little fuel hungry, I dare say better then Sachi will be. You can have a drive any time you want. Just let Jim have a go first or we won't hear the end of it.
Make sure you have a big supply of cake on display in hand for when Jim returns Burts keys or I suspect you might not see him again!
Remote immobiliser, or just give Oli Dufus' keys...................
