Just want to point out this isn't my pic, a friend of mine took this

I think the civic tried to "vtec" the corolla only to realise toyota's version (vvtli) is just as potent lol

I had a ride in my mates corolla and we got utterly destroyed by my other mates DC5 type-R, which is basically a civic anyway. The corollas aren't that quick are they? Nice cars though, wouldn't mind one for the winter.

It seems to come down the driver when racing stock vs stock, never seen a corolla go up against a DC5 but it gives a lot fast hatches a really hard time. Its when you start spending money the honda's come out on top as there just isn't the aftermarket for the corolla

If you can land lift 1st to 2nd, 0-60 can be done in about 6.5 seconds

Not sure whether it's representative but interesting that in both videos the civic initially pulls ahead (could just be the corolla driving being slow) but then the corolla pulls past later - wouldn't have expected that.....do they both have 6 speed boxes?

Yeh civics have 6 gears too. The civic backed off in that tunnel towards the end, and the other vid is the new civic type r which are slower than the earlier ones (and aren't half as sexy). I know I'm very biased here but I'd pick a civic type r over the corolla any day.

Honda Civic Type R EP3 Premier Edition

Mods so far
AEM V2 Induction Kit ¦ Blitz-Nur Spec R Exhaust ¦ Rota Grid Drift 16x8" et10 in Bronze wrapped in Toyo Proxes T1-R's ¦ HSD Coilovers ¦ D2 Rear Adjustable Camber Arms ¦ Mugen Replica Rear Wing ¦ Skunk2 Gear Knob ¦ Sticker-bombed Centre Console ¦ 8000K HID Kit ¦ Metallic Purple Brake Callipers ¦ EP Racing Purple Rear Tow Hook

Progression thread can be found here

 the angry Honda owners have arrived

The first video demonstrates that the Corolla is more or less as quick in a straight line

Overall the Civic is a much more sorted car, there's no denying that. I prefer my Corolla purely down the fact that there's a bit of a chav culture for them round here

DC5 FTW Smile
