Would it be possible for someone to explain (in English!!) the main differences and benefits of the various rolling roads and dynos.

For example TDI attach your hubs to their dyno, and others you just drive on to a pair of rollers.

Which method is going to give the best/most accurate power figure??

For a power run does it really matter?

Here's a big ol can of worms about to be opened Big Grin

The main difference between the hub and roller type of dyno is that with a hub dyno you get no wheel spin.

Hub horse power figure isn't the same as wheel horse power figure.

As for the most accurate, it varies between companies, some seem to have inflated figures while some seem under.

Oh yes very big, because I want the BHP of my car to be unquestioned, we all know how pedantic people can be when talking about power:LOCMOD:

I got my car dyno'd down at Surrey Rolling Road, on their Dyno Dynamics machine, and the bhp figure for the fly was pretty much spot on to what it should be for an IS200.

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

I had my IS200 done at TDi and it was pretty standard and came out at 154.4 (fly) and when SPC had it off me and got it running again they did it on there rolling road and it came out at 155.4 iirc so only 1 bhp in it from a hub dyno and a rolling road?

Its putting a bit more out now though :thumbup1:

Lexus IS200 Sport Navigator (Now being stripped again)

Now Don't Forget The REP!!!

Flywheel is a useless measurement unless on an engine dyno, as it's just calculated, you need to go by the hub/wheel measurement.

Thanks guys, I think Surrey rolling road is only down the road from TGT so may book an appointment there, once the MOT is done as they seem to be recommended.

Yeah Surrey Rolling Road is not too far from TGT. I'm about half-way between the two of them.

Edit - some pics and details from a meet there recently, in this thread.
