As I posted in the thread on Japshow, one of the plastic undertrays on my car broke today (going round the M25).

It's the long one at the side of the car underneath, on the driver's side, between the two wheel arches.

As expected, it looks like this is quite pricey from Lexus/Toyota (£70 or so).

Does anyone know what sort of condition these come in typically from a breaker's ? Wonder if they all end up being a bit brittle ?

I could just leave it off - well, once I manage to get the remains of it off, that is. Any comments on that, any downsides in leaving it off ?

Chris was suggesting to me to just leave it off too. I've taken it off now. Thought the bolts might be quite rusted up, but weren't too bad. Bizarrely there's one of those pop-up plastic clips (as used in holding on the grille) there too as well as the metal nuts/washers.

Yeah underneath it there's nothing at all really, just the body of the car. Not like it's protecting any cables or anything like that.

Its not vital but you might want to keep the bolts in the bolt holes to stoop them rusting....

If you look on ebay under people that are breaking cars and send an email youmight get lucky they dont tend to know the value of things lol so migyht get a bargain

Yeah I thought of that Rabster. Actually to take the undertray off you take off you only have to undo some nuts, and I left the bolts that they're on in place, so that should hopefully be no problemo.

Marsdendean Just keeps the bottom of the engine clean aswell dosnt it?

Nah, it's not that bit of the undertray. Just a bit at the side, between the door and the chassis rail.
